SWITCH GUIDE · CANCEL HOUSECALL PRO

How to actually cancel Housecall Pro — cleanly.

Cancelling Housecall Pro isn't a button — it goes through their support team, and a recurring complaint is people getting charged after they thought they were done. This guide gets you out clean: export first, cancel in writing, expect the phone call, get written confirmation, and watch your bank. It's useful even if you never touch QuoteIron.

EXPORT FIRST · CANCEL IN WRITING · GET IT CONFIRMED · WATCH THE NEXT TWO STATEMENTS

WHY THIS GUIDE EXISTS

Written confirmation isn't paranoia.

Housecall Pro's software is well-rated, but its cancellation and billing draw a clear, documented pattern of complaints. These are verbatim from Housecall Pro's own Better Business Bureau complaint file, fetched July 2026 — the reason every step below insists on getting it in writing and checking your statements.

"I cancelled my subscription 4 times now. I've had to go to my bank to get a credit for last month."

"Can't cancel on site, they dont cancel when you call."

"Two months later, without any warning prior too, they attempted to withdraw $189.00 from my bank twice in one try."

To be fair: Housecall Pro scores 4.7/5 on Capterra for the software itself, and has said publicly it's building a self-serve cancel. As of July 2026 that self-serve option is not live, and its own help center still routes cancellation through support and a phone call with the account owner.

THE CLEAN EXIT

Cancel Housecall Pro in seven steps.

Follow these in order. Steps 1 and 5 are the ones people skip and regret.

Export everything first

Do this before you cancel anything. Pull your customer list, job history, estimates, invoices, and any reports you'll want later — the moment an account lapses, getting data back out is harder. Export to CSV/PDF and save it somewhere you control.

Know that there's no self-serve button

As of July 2026, Housecall Pro's own help center confirms cancellation goes through their support team, not a settings toggle. Don't waste time hunting for a "Cancel plan" button that isn't there. See HCP's billing & account help article.

Put your cancellation request in writing

Start it in a channel that leaves a paper trail. In the app, open the blue chat bubble, choose Support, then "Send us a message." Per Housecall Pro's help center you can also email [email protected]. Clearly state you want to cancel, the effective date, and that you do not authorize further charges. Keep a copy.

Expect — and take — the phone call

Housecall Pro says it can't fully process a cancellation until a team member has spoken with the account owner by phone. So the call is part of the process, not a stall you can skip. Be ready for a retention pitch; if you're leaving, decline politely and restate the cancellation date in writing afterward.

Get written confirmation of the cancellation

This is the step that protects you. Ask for an email confirming the account is cancelled and the exact date billing stops. Screenshot it. Verbal "you're all set" is what the BBB complaints above were told before being charged again.

Ask about the 30-day money-back guarantee (if you just started)

Per Housecall Pro's help center, new subscribers may be eligible for a full refund of the monthly subscription fee within the first 30 days. If you're inside that window, ask for it explicitly and get the refund confirmed in writing too.

Watch your next two bank statements

Check your card or bank statement for the next one to two cycles. If a charge lands after your confirmed cancellation date, contact your bank or card issuer to dispute it and attach your written confirmation — several BBB complainants had to go to their bank to get credited. Don't assume it stopped; verify it stopped.

IF YOU JUST NEED TO QUOTE AND INVOICE

Quoting again in five minutes.

Before you cancel, make sure you've replaced the parts of Housecall Pro you actually use. If you run a crew and lean on scheduling, dispatch, and payments, line up a full replacement first. But if what you really do is price jobs and send invoices, that part is quick to stand back up:

MINUTE 01

Build your book

Open the free book builder, pick your trade, and punch in your labor rate and markup. A flat-rate book prices itself from your numbers — no onboarding call.

MINUTE 03

Start the app

Open QuoteIron on a 14-day trial with no card. It installs to your phone's home screen and runs offline — no signal required in the basement.

MINUTE 05

Send your first quote

Tap the jobs, hand over a firm price, send a branded PDF. One tap turns it into an invoice — and it's $14/mo flat, cancel online, no phone call to leave.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Cancellation questions.

Can I cancel Housecall Pro online without calling?

As of July 2026, no — Housecall Pro's own help center routes cancellation through its support team and says it can't fully process the cancellation until it has spoken with the account owner by phone. You can start the request in writing via in-app chat or the cancellations email, but expect a call to finish it.

Will I get a refund when I cancel?

New subscribers may be eligible for a full refund of the monthly fee within the first 30 days, per Housecall Pro's help center. Outside that window, cancelling generally stops future billing rather than refunding past charges. Ask for the specifics in writing when you cancel.

Why do people get charged after cancelling?

It's a documented pattern on Housecall Pro's BBB complaint file — customers reporting charges continuing after they believed they'd cancelled. That's exactly why this guide insists on written confirmation and checking your statements. If it happens to you, dispute the charge with your bank and attach your confirmation.

What will I lose by leaving Housecall Pro?

If you use its scheduling, dispatch, GPS, native payments, or marketing tools, you'll need replacements for those — HCP is a broad suite and, to be fair, a well-rated one. Make sure you've exported your data and lined up whatever you truly rely on before you pull the plug.

I only used it to quote and invoice. What's the fastest replacement?

QuoteIron. It's offline-first quoting and invoicing for one-person shops at $14/mo flat, with a build-your-own flat-rate price book, good/better/best options, e-signatures, and one-tap invoices. You can build a book free in your browser right now, then trial the app for 14 days with no card.
