Short answer: if you are a one-person shop that mainly quotes and gets paid, the pick is QuoteIron — $159.99 a year (or $15.99/month) versus $348 a year for Jobber Core and $708 for Housecall Pro Basic when paid annually, which is $188.01 and $548.01 less. It is free for 5 jobs a month, includes a 1050+ job price book and takes card payments through your own Stripe account (2.9% + 30¢, no QuoteIron cut). Jobber fits better if you want a browser version or are adding a crew soon; Housecall Pro fits better if you want dispatch, GPS or the larger platform and its lowest listed card rate. Between those two alone, Jobber Core is cheaper on paper, but its automated reminders start at the $99/month Connect plan. We make QuoteIron, so check each competitor number on its own pricing page (checked October 6, 2026).

If you are a one-person trade shop, both Jobber and Housecall Pro are built to grow into a crew. That is good if a crew is the plan and a cost you carry every month if it is not. This comparison sticks to what a solo operator actually pays for: the one-user plan, quoting, getting paid, and reminders. We link each competitor figure to its own pricing page so you can check us.

Where Jobber fits

Jobber’s Core plan covers online booking, scheduling, quotes, invoices and online payments for one user at the lowest entry price of the two. The catch for a solo shop is that automated client reminders, automatic payment collection and quote and invoice follow-ups sit on Connect, the next tier up at $99/month billed annually. If you chase invoices by hand, Core is enough; if you want the app to chase for you, price Connect, not Core. Crew scheduling and team features sit on its Plus plan, which you do not need alone.

Where Housecall Pro fits

Housecall Pro’s Basic plan is $59/month billed annually for one user and lists estimates and invoicing, scheduling, a price book and offline viewing. Its card rate is quoted as “as low as 2.59%,” the lowest listed of the three, though that is a best case. Flat-rate pricing with margins moves up to Essentials at $149/month annually, which is the plan built for five users. If a price book and the lowest card rate matter to you and you want the larger platform, Housecall Pro is the more complete of the two.

Where QuoteIron fits

QuoteIron is built for one person who prices by the job: a 1050+ job price book, quotes and invoices, customer reminders, and card payments through your own Stripe account at 2.9% + 30¢ with no QuoteIron fee. Free for 5 jobs a month; Pro is $15.99/month or $159.99/year. The trade-offs: it runs on iPhone, iPad and Android only (no browser version) and has no dispatch, GPS or multi-tech scheduling.

Which should a one-person shop pick?

  • You want the lowest monthly bill from the two and will chase invoices yourself: Jobber Core.
  • You want a price book included and plan to add people: Housecall Pro Basic, then Essentials.
  • You work alone, mainly quote and get paid, and want reminders, a ready-made price book and card payments without a crew platform on top: QuoteIron Pro, $15.99 a month or $159.99 a year, includes all three; it is iPhone, iPad and Android only, with no browser version and no dispatch, GPS or multi-tech scheduling.

Whatever you choose, run the 14-day trial on a real job, not a demo one. The real test is whether you can send a quote from the customer’s driveway in two minutes. Leaving one of them?
