Cancelling Housecall Pro isn't a button — it goes through their support team, and a recurring complaint is people getting charged after they thought they were done. This guide gets you out clean: export first, cancel in writing, expect the phone call, get written confirmation, and watch your bank. It's useful even if you never touch QuoteIron.

Housecall Pro's software is well-rated, but its cancellation and billing draw a clear, documented pattern of complaints. These are verbatim from Housecall Pro's own Better Business Bureau complaint file, fetched July 2026 — the reason every step below insists on getting it in writing and checking your statements.
"I cancelled my subscription 4 times now. I've had to go to my bank to get a credit for last month."Housecall Pro customer · BBB complaint file, 2026 · source
"Can't cancel on site, they dont cancel when you call."Housecall Pro customer · BBB complaint file, 2026 · source
"Two months later, without any warning prior too, they attempted to withdraw $189.00 from my bank twice in one try."Housecall Pro customer · BBB complaint file, 2026 · source
To be fair: Housecall Pro scores 4.7/5 on Capterra for the software itself (July 2026). But as of September 2026 there is still no self-serve cancel: its own help center (billing article updated July 8, 2026) routes cancellation through support and a phone call with the account owner.
Housecall Pro’s billing help guide (re-read October 8, 2026) covers switching plans before you consider cancelling: gear icon, Billing, then Plans & Payments or Explore Plans. Basic is $59 a month billed annually ($79 monthly) on its pricing page, checked the same day.
Follow these in order. Steps 1 and 5 are the ones people skip and regret.
Do this before you cancel anything. Pull your customer list (Customers → Actions → Export), your job history (Jobs → Actions → Export), your price book (Settings → Price Book → Services or Materials → Export), plus estimates, invoices, and any reports you'll want later — the moment an account lapses, getting data back out is harder. Only an admin on the account can run the customer and job exports, and each one arrives by email as a CSV. Save everything somewhere you control.
Heads up on one thing Housecall Pro won't let you take: their own help center states that Profit Rhino price-book data cannot be exported — if you export services or materials, none of the Profit Rhino catalog is included. That's a $199/mo add-on you can never carry out, to us or to anyone else. Your own manually-added services and materials export fine.
If you're landing in QuoteIron, the customer and price-book CSVs go straight in — see the panel below. More on what imports and what doesn't.
As of September 2026, Housecall Pro's own help center still confirms cancellation goes through their support team, not a settings toggle. Don't waste time hunting for a "Cancel plan" button that isn't there. See HCP's billing & account help article.
Start it in a channel that leaves a paper trail. In the app, open the blue chat bubble, choose Support, then "Send us a message." Per Housecall Pro's help center and its terms you can also email [email protected]; its billing team says it reaches out within 1–3 business days. Clearly state you want to cancel, the effective date, and that you do not authorize further charges. Keep a copy.
Housecall Pro says it can't fully process a cancellation until a team member has spoken with the account owner by phone. So the call is part of the process, not a stall you can skip. Be ready for a retention pitch; if you're leaving, decline politely and restate the cancellation date in writing afterward.
This is the step that protects you. Ask for an email confirming the account is cancelled and the exact date billing stops. Screenshot it. Verbal "you're all set" is what the BBB complaints above were told before being charged again.
Per Housecall Pro's help center, new subscribers may be eligible for a full refund of the monthly subscription fee within the first 30 days. Only that base subscription fee is covered — setup fees, postcards, chargebacks and other extras aren't refunded. If you're inside that window, ask for it explicitly and get the refund confirmed in writing too.
Check your card or bank statement for the next one to two cycles. If a charge lands after your confirmed cancellation date, contact your bank or card issuer to dispute it and attach your written confirmation — several BBB complainants had to go to their bank to get credited. Don't assume it stopped; verify it stopped.
Steps re-checked September 2026 against Housecall Pro's own help center (billing & account management, updated July 8, 2026; customer and job export, updated July 21, 2026; price-book export, updated July 2, 2026; Profit Rhino guide, updated August 6, 2026) and its terms (updated July 1, 2026). The BBB complaint quotes above were fetched July 2026. Contact details and refund windows can change — confirm current specifics with Housecall Pro when you cancel.
Before you cancel, make sure you've replaced the parts of Housecall Pro you actually use. If you run a crew and lean on dispatch, GPS tracking or crew scheduling, line up a full replacement first — QuoteIron doesn't do those. But if you're one person who prices jobs, books the visit, sends the invoice and gets paid, that part is quick to stand back up:
Open the free book builder, pick your trade, and punch in your labor rate and markup. A flat-rate book prices itself from your numbers — no onboarding call. Already exported your Housecall Pro price book? Import that CSV instead and keep the prices you set.
Download QuoteIron from the App Store or Google Play — free for 5 jobs a month, no card. It runs offline — no signal required in the basement.
Tap the jobs, hand over a firm price, send a branded PDF or a link they can sign. One tap turns it into an invoice. Pro is $15.99/mo flat, and you cancel it in the App Store or Google Play — no phone call to leave.
As of September 2026, no — Housecall Pro's own help center routes cancellation through its support team and says it can't fully process the cancellation until it has spoken with the account owner by phone. You can start the request in writing via in-app chat or the cancellations email, but expect a call to finish it.
New subscribers may be eligible for a full refund of the monthly fee within the first 30 days, per Housecall Pro's help center — the base subscription fee only, not setup fees or other extras. Outside that window, HCP's terms say subscription fees aren't prorated or refunded, so cancelling stops future billing rather than refunding past charges. Ask for the specifics in writing when you cancel.
It's a documented pattern on Housecall Pro's BBB complaint file — customers reporting charges continuing after they believed they'd cancelled. That's exactly why this guide insists on written confirmation and checking your statements. If it happens to you, dispute the charge with your bank and attach your confirmation.
If you run a crew, the big ones are dispatch, GPS tracking, crew scheduling and marketing tools — QuoteIron doesn't offer those, so line up a replacement first; HCP is a broad suite and, to be fair, a well-rated one. If you work alone, less than you'd think: QuoteIron covers flat-rate quoting, e-signatures, invoices and deposits, a one-person schedule with "On my way" texts, and — with Pro — card payments straight to your own Stripe account. Either way, export your data before you pull the plug.
QuoteIron. It's offline-first quoting and invoicing for one-person shops — free for 5 jobs a month, then $15.99/mo flat, with a build-your-own flat-rate price book, good/better/best options, e-signatures, one-tap invoices, a one-person schedule, and (with Pro) card payments to your own Stripe account. You can build a book free in your browser right now, then get the app on the App Store or Google Play, free for 5 jobs a month, no card.
Every one links its prices and quotes to the source.
